אמן כלי הקשה חן צימבליסטה נכלל בין סולני כלי ההקשה הבולטים בארץ ובעולם. בוגר האקדמיה למוסיקה ע”ש רובין באוניברסיטת תל-אביב. החל את לימודיו אצל אלון בור, והמשיך אצל פרופ’ מוריס לנג בביה”ס הגבוה למוסיקה בברוקלין ואצל פרופ’ בנט ליילוף באקדמיה המלכותית בקופנהגן.
חן הופיע עם כל התזמורות המובילות בארץ לרבות התזמורת הפילהרמונית הישראלית, וכן בסיורי קונצרטים ברחבי העולם – בסין טיוואן , קנדה, ארה”ב, אירופה, אמריקה הדרומית טורקיה בולגריה.
בין הפרסים זכה חן בפרס הרדיו בעבור ביצוע יצירתו של נועם שריף “מרקם לחן”; בפרס היוקרתי ע”ש פרנסואה שפירא פרס הביצוע בעבור יצירה שהלחין בפרס הצילינדר ועוד.
מלחינים רבים הלחינו יצירות במיוחד עבורו; ביניהם נועם שריף, מנחם ויזנברג, שלמה גרוניך, בני נגרי, לנה סוקולובסקי, יבגני לויטס, בנימין יוסופוב הדס גולדשמיט ,ווגנר טיסו (ברזיל), מרק האגרטי (ארה”ב) ועוד.
חן הקליט ארבעה אלבומים, “מקצב מדברי” ,”PERCUSSION” ,מוסיקה למרימבה ופסנתר ו מרימבה ספיריטואל.
צימבליסטה הופיע בפסטיבל שלזוויג הולשטיין, פסטיבל לודוויגסבורג, גרמניה; קנדי סנטר בוושינגטון,
פסטיבל המערב-התיכון עם התזמורת הסימפונית של דטרויט, ארה”ב; 
פסטיבל מקצבים בטייואן,פסטיבל איסטנבול ,פסטיבל ישראל, ימי המוסיקה בגליל הליון ועוד
שיתופי פעולה ייחודים עם אנסמבל כלי-ההקשה של שטוטגרט; “החשמליה” עם צחי פטיש (בחסות חברת החשמל); ב-Laya Project הודו- מסע מוסיקלי ויזואלי למען קהילות נפגעות הצונמי. קונצרט שלום באנגולה,קונצרטים עם הזמרים שלומי שבן,קרני פוסטל ,שלמה גרוניך .
בין פעילויותיו כיהן כמנהל האמנותי והמנצח של התזמורת הקאמרית אשדוד כמנהל האמנותי של הפסטיבל למדע ומוסיקה במכון וייצמן של פסטיבל TAM TAM, לכלי הקשה וסדרת הקונצרטים VOCALS & BEATS

Since 2006 Michael is Artistic Director of the organization Pure Jazz The Movement which includes an annual festival and about 30 concerts a year.
Pure Jazz welcomes artists from all over the world and invited artists from Argentina, Cuba, Senegal, United States, Brazil, Mozambique and Nigeria there were performances by musicians such as Terence Blanchard, Curtis Fuller, Javon Jackson, Jeremy Pelt, Gustavo Mozzi, Rashid Ali and The 21st Century Band.
Highlights were the special programs Jazz & Film, Jazz & Dance, Jazz & Poetry and the world première of Terence Blanchard’s requiem for Katrina.Currently
In October 2001 Michael received in Kobe Japan the Kobe Award for outstanding young talent and he won the prestigious Edison Award with FraFra. Besides doing special tribute concerts for Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis, Michael is currently working as a bandleader with The New Heritage Band and is co-leading different groups such as the Amsterdam Jazz Club, Urban Roots and The Trumpack with Philip Harper.
